Overview of the job

India is one of the critical regions for the Fabric Care business globally with strong brands like Ariel and Tide. We are always looking to innovate on our brand offerings in the region and towards this delivering new consumer-based ideas, benefits visualization and demos are critical to both continue to grow and compete/win in the market.

We are looking for a Researcher, to do either of the following roles:

  1. To understand the market & consumer Habits and Practices, support the work on sensors which takes data gathering to a new level beyond standard use tests, qualify, and amplify global and regional initiatives in the Indian sub-continent as well as potential expansion to other regions such as Asia Pacific.

  2. To operate the small scale making and placement of consumer tests and support the demo creation work in the lab. Consumer testing and commercial toolkit development is a critical element of the qualification of new, winning products needed to fuel the growth of the fabric care business.

Your team

Located at the P&G Mumbai office (role 1) or our manufacturing plant in Hyderabad (role 2), you will be part of the product research in Fabric Care organization. You will have the opportunity to work in multi-functional teams working closely with the R&D team based out of Newcastle, UK and across the hub teams in Mumbai/Hyderabad. In this role, you will also engage with both internal and external partners.

How success looks like

Over time, you will be a Fabric Care product research specialist including the move towards sensored connected laundry rooms and a range of digital tools to change the way we learn (role 1, Mumbai) or a research specialist with increasing ability to lead consumer research and develop compelling commercial toolkit demos and competitive product understanding.

Role 1 (Mumbai) The ideal candidate will be responsible for qualifying a range of tools and sensors to gather better data to provide deeper insights enabling sustainable winning initiatives in this challenging market. In addition, they will have responsibility for amplifying product benefits to create best in class commercial execution. He/she will be working closely with regional R&D and commercial teams to design, qualify and execute a pipeline of regional initiatives.

Role 2 (Hyderabad) The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and operating the small-scale making capability to create the test legs for regular panels and consumer assessment. In addition, when not making or placing product in tests, he/she will play an active role in the creation of demos for the commercial toolkit. This is a predominantly lab-based role. He/she will be working closely with regional R&D and commercial teams to design, qualify and execute a pipeline of regional initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Role 1 (Mumbai) This will include the day-to-day preparation and execution of tests with new sensors and devices as well as supporting any content creation for amplifying product benefits working collaboratively with the team in NIC, Hyderabad and on site in Mumbai. Onboards to the range of systems including data analysis, and other R&D systems and become knowledgeable in the requirements for consumer study placement, logistics etc., as well as proper documentation of work.

  • Execute, and analyze consumer insights and claims' tests results

  • Liaise with the Hyderabad and Newcastle teams on product technical studies and consumer research, personally leading local and national qualitative and quantitative consumer testing

  • Understand consumer needs and work with multi-functional teams to develop new ideas and demos to delight our consumers

  • Partner with senior researchers & technologists to develop and test out prototypes

  • Capture key insights and technical findings from research projects and share results & recommendations in a clear succinct manner

Role 2 (Hyderabad) This will include the day-to-day preparation and execution of tests and supporting any content creation for amplifying product benefits working collaboratively with the team in NIC, Hyderabad and on site in Mumbai. Onboards to the range of systems including data analysis, and other R&D systems and become knowledgeable in the requirements for consumer study placement, logistics etc., as well as proper documentation of work.

  • Plan and run the making equipment to produce product for consumer testing and demo creation

  • Execute, and analyze consumer insights and claims' tests results

  • Lead product technical study in the labs and local consumer studies

  • Understand consumer needs and work with multi-functional teams to develop new ideas and demos to delight our consumers

  • Capture key insights and technical findings from research projects and share results & recommendations in a clear succinct manner

Job Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • Polytechnic Diploma in Science or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or related fields (TBC)

  • Strong ownership & self-leadership skills to understand the business objective, local context, and business landscape to deliver the required outcomes

  • Effective oral and written communication skills is a must

  • Able to work independently, prioritize and perform in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and uses data to connect multiple ideas and develop solutions.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to connect with people from different cultures and levels, both internally and externally
